Aubry makes it double on Sunday
It was a perfect Sunday for Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing) who claimed both victories on the final day at Hungaroring. The Frenchman stood victorious twice: first time ahead of Will Palmer (R-ace GP) and Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing), and second time ahead of Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) and Max Defourny (R-ace GP) who was once again one of the most active drivers in the field showing himself in his opponents mirrors.
Race 2 – Maiden win for Aubry
Sacha Fenestraz stood on pole in the morning but couldn’t do anything against a perfect start by Gabriel Aubry. The Tech 1 Racing driver pulled away as Palmer overtook Fenestraz for the second position. Max Defourny put some pressure on Fenestraz as well in 4th position, Robert Shwartzman completed the top-5. Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing) took the trophy for the best rookie of this race.
Race 3 – Fenestraz penalized, Aubry wins again
Two Frenchman lined up at the front row, but this time it was Fenestraz who overtook Aubry for the lead after the safety car restart. Josef Kaufmann’s driver held the lead till the checkered flag but was penalized for false start and dropped down to 8th in the protocol.
Robert Shwartzman and Max Defourny drove another solid race together to finish P2 and P3 for their best result this weekend. Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing) was the best rookie driver on podium.

Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing): “I am beginning to really like this track. I had already won here in F4! After my first complete season in Formula Renault, I gave thought to quitting before I pulled myself together and worked with the team and a mental coach to regain my confidence. It took time, but the results have followed. I want to thank everyone at Tech 1 Racing for giving me a chance to comeback with such a competitive car. It is wonderful to bounce back like this! It has been a fantastic week with the two wins in NEC and a perfect Sunday in Budapest. Last year, consistency wasn’t my strong suit, so I am overjoyed to have kept this momentum going. All the work put in over the winter with the team is paying off. We scored 62 points this weekend, which shows we are back!“
Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing): “It is good to be back on the podium this morning in winning the rookie category. This success is satisfying following a difficult weekend in Monaco and a complicated Saturday in Budapest with my accident in Q1. It was far from an ideal start! I put a nice move on Yifei to take the victory, but I must work much harder to step onto the real podium!”
Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing): “After missing out on the rookie win several times, it is not so bad to be on the podium his afternoon even though my main objective is to be among the top three and not behind them!”
