FR 2.0: all set for the final event
Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup final event takes place in Barcelona this week. The 4.655 km track hosts three last races of 2017 season to determine the name of the champion. 74.480 km is the overall race distance for the FR 2.0 drivers while 69% of the lap it’s full throttle mode.
Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) leads the Eurocup rankings with 52.5 points advantage over Will Palmer (R-ace GP). That means that the Frenchman may be crowned as champion on Saturday after the first race.
Max Defourny and Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) will try to gain on their teammate in the battle for P2-P3-P4 while Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing) waits for his moment to overtake some of the French team’s drivers.
Last time the Eurocup FR 2.0 races were held in Catalunya was 2013 season with Nyck de Vries and Esteban Ocon on top. 63% winners at this circuit started from pole position so don’t underestimate the qualifying sessions importance even though there is the longest start/finish straight of the championship here.
