Shwartzman enters Ferrari Driver Academy
Robert Shwartzman became the first Russian driver invited to Ferrari Driver Academy. The SMP Racing driver signed a contract with FDA this week at Maranello.
From now on Shwartzman, while finishing his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season, will take part in FDA training proccess and events. His new teammates in the Academy are Giuliano Alesi, Enzo Fittipaldi, Antonio Fuoco, Charles Leclerc, Marcus Armstrong, Guan Yu Zhou and Callum Ilott.
The main target for Shwartzman in Ferrari Driver Academy is to prepare for future Formula 1 competition.
Ferrari and SMP Racing collaborate since 2012 in various racing series including FIA WEC. However, no Russian drivers have ever entered the Ferrari Driver Academy before.
This weekend Shwartzman finishes his Formula Renault 2.0 season. Before the last event he has 5 pole positions, 4 wins and 4 fast laps in this championship.
